Author: PPD Team Date: August 1, 2025

India’s first green ammonia auction under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme concluded with ACME Cleantech Solutions securing the winning bid. The company will supply 75,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia annually to Paradeep Phosphates Limited in Odisha at Rs 55.75 per kg for ten years.

The auction was conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) under Mode-2A, Tranche-I of the SIGHT scheme. It is the first of 13 tenders planned under the initiative, which aims to procure a total of 724,000 metric tonnes per year. The government has allocated Rs 15.3 billion in incentives over three years.

SECI is functioning as the intermediary procurer under policy guidance from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and coordination from the Department of Fertilisers.

The bid price achieved in this round is significantly below the $1,153 per tonne discovered in the international H2Global auction. It also compares competitively to the price of grey ammonia, which stood at $515 per tonne in March 2025.

Officials noted that the auction format, with fixed pricing and payment security, offers confidence to buyers and supports the adoption of green hydrogen derivatives.
