MSEDCL installs over 4 lakh TOD meters in Pune circle

Author: PPD Team Date: July 24, 2025

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has installed over 4 lakh time of day (TOD) electricity meters in the Pune circle, reported The Indian Express. These meters are being provided free of charge to all categories of consumers.

The TOD meters are postpaid and digitally transmit electricity usage data. This allows MSEDCL to issue timely and accurate bills without manual readings. The meters are tested for accuracy and can be verified at MSEDCL’s facilities.

Under the TOD system, electricity rates vary by time of use. Consumers using power during the day, when solar generation is higher, can benefit from lower tariffs. The system also supports solar power integration into the grid.

Consumers can monitor their electricity consumption through the MSEDCL mobile app. TOD meters record energy usage based on the time it is consumed, helping reduce billing errors and delays.
