Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPNL) has approved transmission projects worth Rs 267.73 billion to boost the state’s power evacuation capacity, with a strong focus on green energy integration.

The utility cleared 15 major schemes. These include nine 765 kV grid substations (GSS), four 400 kV GSS, and two 220 kV GSS. The upgrades are expected to improve power flow across key renewable energy zones.

All projects exceeding Rs 3 billion will be developed through the tariff-based competitive bidding route, following directives from the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission.

RVPNL’s board also approved the monetisation of 13 existing 400 kV substations.

In parallel, a central transmission scheme is being developed to support solar zones in Rajasthan and Gujarat. Proposed by the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) under Invest India, the Rs 141.47 billion plan will add high-capacity lines and substations. It will cover Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Barmer in Rajasthan, and Surendranagar, Patan, and Kutch in Gujarat.
