Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) commissioned 752 MW of solar capacity in the first quarter of 2025-26, more than doubling its Q1 addition from last year.
This marks a 112 per cent increase from the 354 MW commissioned in Q1 2024-25. With this, TPREL’s total operational utility-scale capacity has reached 5.6 GW, comprising 4.6 GW of solar and 1 GW of wind.
The company plans to add another 1.7 GW of utility-owned capacity and 1 GW through third-party projects during the current financial year. Tata Power has set a target of 7.3 GW total operational renewable capacity by the end of 2025-26, including 5.6 GW of solar and 1.7 GW of wind.
India added 6.7 GW of solar capacity in Q1 2025, according to Mercom India’s Q1 2025 Solar Market Update. This represented a 25 per cent year-over-year decline from the 9 GW added in Q1 2024. Of the Q1 2025 additions, 5.5 GW came from large-scale projects and 1.2 GW from rooftop solar. Open access projects accounted for nearly 20 per cent of large-scale capacity additions. Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra led state-level installations. However, detailed commissioning figures from other developers remain limited in public reports.
