Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL) has announced the commissioning of India’s first off-grid green hydrogen pilot plant in Kutch, Gujarat. The 5 MW facility is fully powered by solar energy and integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), allowing it to operate independently of the grid.
The plant features a fully automated, closed-loop electrolyzer system that dynamically adjusts to real-time solar inputs. This provides flexibility and efficiency, helping address renewable energy variability. The pilot will serve as a proof of concept for ANIL’s upcoming Green Hydrogen Hub in Mundra.
The initiative aligns with the National Green Hydrogen Mission and reinforces India’s aim to become a global hub for green hydrogen production. The hydrogen produced is intended for industrial use, especially in hard-to-abate sectors.
Earlier, in March 2024, Hygenco and Jindal Stainless had commissioned the world’s first off-grid green hydrogen plant for the stainless steel industry at Hisar, Haryana. That project was designed specifically for captive industrial use and featured rooftop and floating solar integration.
