REC Power Development & Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has transferred four special purpose vehicles (SPVs) to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) and IndiGrid 2 Private Limited for the development of transmission system projects across India. The transfer took place on March 24, 2025.
SPVs transferred to PGCIL
PGCIL has taken over three SPVs for key transmission projects:
- Banaskantha Transco Limited – Augmentation of transformation capacity at Banaskantha (Raghanesda) PS (GIS) in Gujarat.
- Kurnool-IV Transmission Limited – Transmission system for integration of Kurnool-IV REZ – Phase-I (for 4.5 GW) in Andhra Pradesh.
- Rajasthan V Power Transmission Limited – Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph-V (Part-1: 4 GW) [Sirohi/Nagaur] Complex.
SPV transferred to IndiGrid
- Ratle Kiru Power Transmission Limited – Transmission scheme for evacuation of power from Ratle HEP (850 MW) & Kiru HEP (624 MW): Part-A.
PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL) and RECPDCL served as bid process coordinators (BPCs) for selecting transmission service providers (TSPs) through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process.
Talegaon transmission network expansion bidding
REC PDCL also invited bids in October 2024 for selecting a TSP for the Network Expansion scheme in Western Region to cater to Pumped storage potential near Talegaon (Pune) in Maharashtra. Three firms have been shortlisted as technically qualified for the project:
- Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL)
- Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL)
- Resonia Limited (erstwhile Sterlite Grid 32 Limited)
REC PDCL is overseeing the selection process through the TBCB framework.
