Switch has selected Oklo, a nuclear technology company, to deploy 12GW of Oklo Aurora powerhouse projects by 2044. The projects are part of a non-binding master power agreement, one of the largest corporate clean power deals to date, setting the stage for future binding power purchase agreements.
Oklo will develop, construct, and operate the powerhouses to supply clean energy across the US. This partnership supports Oklo’s growth and the increasing demand for clean energy. Switch’s data centres, which support major global companies, will benefit from this initiative aimed at meeting future energy needs.
Switch has operated its data centres on 100% renewable energy since 2016, using nearly 984 million kilowatt-hours annually. The agreement aligns with Switch’s commitment to sustainability and enhances its energy infrastructure.
Oklo’s co-founder and CEO, Jacob DeWitte, expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting that the partnership will accelerate the deployment of Oklo’s powerhouses and demonstrate long-term customer demand.
