GE Vernova has secured its first order for H-Class natural gas-fired combined cycle power generation equipment in the Caribbean.
The equipment will be deployed at Generadora San Felipe Limited’s (GSF) new 470 MW San Felipe power station in Punta Caucedo, Boca Chica, Dominican Republic.
This development supports the country’s energy transition goals by enhancing renewable energy integration with reliable, dispatchable power. As natural gas has become the dominant fuel for electricity generation in the Dominican Republic, this new plant will contribute to the reduction of CO₂ and other emissions, helping the country meet its climate objectives.
The plant will feature GE Vernova’s 7HA.02 gas turbine, H65 generator, STF-A650 steam turbine, and heat recovery steam generator, forming part of the most efficient fleet of heavy-duty gas turbines in the region. The technology is expected to make San Felipe one of the most efficient power plants in the Caribbean once operational in 2027.
GE Vernova’s H-Class gas turbines, known for their high efficiency, fuel flexibility, and low emissions, have accumulated over 2.5 million operational hours, with a fleet capacity of more than 53 GW.
