Modi Biotech Private Limited (MBPL), a subsidiary of Modi Naturals Limited, will invest Rs 1 billion to expand its ethanol production capacity.
The project will add 180 kilolitres per day (KLD) to the current 130 KLD, increasing the total capacity to 310 KLD.
The expansion, featuring advanced infrastructure and technology, is expected to be completed in 8–10 months. This aligns with Modi Naturals’ diversification strategy, which focuses on ethanol manufacturing, consumer goods, and bulk edible oil and feeds.
MBPL’s efforts support the government’s ethanol blending petrol programme to reduce fossil fuel dependence. The company currently operates a 130 KLD ethanol distillery and a 5 MW captive power plant in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. It has also secured orders worth Rs 3 billion for 41,600 kilolitres of ethanol from Oil Manufacturing Companies.
