The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has energised the 230 kV Cebu–Bohol interconnection project (CBIP).
The 1.2 GW interconnection will enhance grid stability across Central Visayas, covering the islands of Bohol and Cebu.
CBIP Line 1 was energised in July, followed by the full activation of Line 2 in September 2024.
The project involved a 54.6 km submarine cable crossing the Bohol Strait and 97.6 km of overhead lines, linking Argao, Cebu, to Maribojoc, Bohol.
The infrastructure includes the construction of the 230 kV Corella substation (2×300 MVA) in Bohol, a 230 kV Dumanjug–Argao line in Cebu, the Loon–Corella onshore line in Bohol, and the 230 kV Argao–Loon submarine cable system (400 MW) connecting Cebu and Bohol.
It also includes the extension of the Dumanjug substation with a 70 MVAr reactor.
