GE Vernova has won a contract from Powerlink, Queensland’s state-owned transmission utility, to supply equipment for its Capital Work program.
The agreement includes the delivery of 69 Dead Tank Circuit Breakers (DTCBs), rated 245kV and above, to bolster Queensland’s renewable energy integration and enhance power infrastructure resilience.
Manufactured by GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions business at its Suzhou, China factory, the DTCBs will be delivered between August 2025 and March 2026. These devices play a critical role in maintaining stable power transmission by isolating electrical faults or overloads, ensuring uninterrupted energy flow. This capability is essential for integrating renewable energy sources into the grid while minimizing disruptions.
Powerlink’s efforts align with Queensland’s renewable energy targets of 70% by 2032 and 80% by 2035, with the utility focused on building and maintaining a high-voltage transmission network to support economic growth and sustainability.
