The Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has simplified compliance requirements for renewable energy projects.
Solar module manufacturing units, solar and wind power projects, and mini hydel projects under 25 MW are now exempt from obtaining Environmental Clearance (EC) and Consent to Establish (CTE).
Additionally, projects with an EC will no longer require a separate CTE or Consent to Operate, reducing duplication in the process.
A standard operating procedure will integrate CTE considerations into the EC process, with State Pollution Control Boards consulted to ensure environmental safeguards. Industries must continue paying the CTE fee to maintain state revenue.
