Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated Gujarat’s largest waste-to-energy plant in Ahmedabad on the eve of the Gujarati New Year.
The PPP-based plant, developed at Piplaj in partnership with Jindal Urban Waste Management Limited, will process 1,000 metric tons of waste daily, generating 15 megawatts of electricity per hour.
Built at a cost of approximately Rs 3.75 billion, the plant uses RDF-based Martin Reverse Grate Firing Technology, where municipal solid waste is incinerated to produce 65 TPH of steam. This steam powers turbines that supply electricity to the grid, advancing Ahmedabad’s cleanliness and energy goals.
The event saw attendance from Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Health Minister Rushikesh Patel, and other dignitaries, marking a key step in sustainable waste management and environmental conservation in the state.
