X-ELIO has announced the expansion of its Blue Grass Solar Farm, located in Queensland’s Western Downs, by integrating a 148 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This marks X-ELIO’s first hybrid solar and storage project in Australia.
The project will be developed in two phases: the first phase will deliver 60 MW BESS by 2025, followed by an additional 88 MW BESS in the second phase by 2026.
The 200 MW solar farm, operational since November 2022, generates 420 GWh of clean energy annually, contributing to Queensland’s Renewable Energy Target (QRET). The addition of BESS will enable the solar farm to store excess energy during peak solar production and dispatch it during periods of high demand or low solar output, thus improving energy reliability and grid stability.
X-ELIO, a global leader in renewable energy development, specializes in developing, constructing, financing, and operating sustainable energy projects across Europe, the United States, Latin America, Japan, and Australia. With over 2.6 GW of projects completed, the company is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change through its sustainable energy initiatives.
Author: PPD Team Date: November 10, 2025 The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has released a proposal outlining how states can monetise their existing intra-state transmission networks. The plan seeks to ease the funding gap of more than Rs 9.16 lakh crore identified in the National Electricity Plan (Transmission) 2032, as over half of India’s transmission capacity addition is expected to take place at the state level. To help states raise capital without increasing fiscal pressure,…

Author: PPD Team Date: January 16, 2025 China has unveiled plans to develop space-based solar stations, aiming to collect energy unaffected by weather or night cycles. The project involves installing a 1 km-wide solar array in geostationary orbit, 36,000 km above Earth. Senior scientist Long Lehao compared the initiative to the Three Gorges Dam in orbit, highlighting its potential to generate yearly energy comparable to Earth’s total recoverable oil reserves. The stations would ensure continuous…
