The Department of Energy (DOE) in the Philippines has announced plans to commercialize three offshore wind projects with a combined capacity of 1,650 MW. The projects have received certificates of confirmation of commerciality, enabling them to enter the development phase. The consortium developing these projects includes Triconti Windkraft Group, Sea Wind Holdings, and Stream Invest Holding.
The projects consist of the 450 MW Frontera Bay Wind Power Project, located off the coasts of Cavite and Bataan, and the 1,200 MW Guimaras Strait Project I and II, which are positioned between Panay and Negros Occidental and will be developed in two phases of 600 MW each.
These wind farms will feature fixed-bottom foundations and are strategically located near high-demand energy grids. The consortium aims to include these projects in the Philippines’ inaugural Green Energy Auction for Offshore Wind, planned for 2025.

It states that India should focus on becoming a developed country by 2047 before targeting net-zero emissions by 2070. India’s coal-fired power plants, mostly commissioned in the 2010s, still have substantial lifespans. Unlike the US and Europe, which can transition to natural gas, India relies on coal due to its reserves…
