Peruvian power generator Inkia Energy has received environmental approval to expand its Sunny solar power plant from 228 MWp to 338 MWp.
This expansion is part of the company’s broader plan to establish a solar hub in Peru, contributing approximately 1 GW of renewable capacity to the national grid by the fourth quarter of 2025.
The Sunny solar project, currently under construction in southern Peru, will be fully operational by the second half of 2025. The expansion supports the construction of two adjacent solar projects through energy and renewable energy certificates off-take agreements.
Inkia is also preparing to launch two wind projects with a combined capacity of 600 MW by 2026. These developments, alongside solar and battery energy storage projects, aim to solidify Inkia’s position as a leader in Peru’s renewable energy market. The company integrates renewable sources with natural gas to ensure reliability and meet energy demands.
