Thermax, UK firm partner for green hydrogen manufacturing
Thermax has partnered with Ceres Power to manufacture large-scale Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells (SOEC), crucial for green hydrogen production. Leveraging its expertise in heat integration and waste heat recovery, Thermax will develop and produce pressurised stack array modules (SAM) and SAM balance of modules (SBM), essential for multi-megawatt SOEC electrolyser systems. Under a global license agreement, Thermax will manufacture, sell, and service these systems based on Ceres’ advanced SOEC technology. The collaboration aims to deliver…
Singapore looks to Australia and Malaysia for renewable energy to meet rising demand
As energy demand continues to surge, driven largely by data centres, Singapore is turning to Australia’s deserts and Malaysia’s rainforests for clean energy solutions. This week, Australia announced a massive solar farm aiming to deliver up to 2 GW of power to Singapore via undersea cable. Singapore plans to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050. However, with limited space and unfavourable conditions for wind or hydropower, the city-state relies heavily…

ACME Solar Holdings’ special purpose vehicle, ACME Platinum Urja, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 150 MW hybrid solar project. This is part of the 350 MW capacity awarded to ACME Solar by SECI. The project will include energy storage solutions (ESS) and will be connected to the inter-state transmission system via Tumkur-II substation in Karnataka. ACME Solar Holdings has also filed a draft red…
NTPC’s NETRA develops indigenous catalyst for CO2 to methanol conversion
NTPC‘s R&D division, NETRA, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP) Dehradun, has developed an indigenous catalyst for converting CO2 into methanol. This catalyst, crucial for chemical synthesis, facilitates CO2 hydrogenation and is currently being tested in a 10 kg/day methanol pilot plant. In this process, 1 mole of CO2 and 3 moles of H2 are passed through a fixed-bed downflow reactor, producing methanol with over 99% purity. This initiative represents NTPC’s commitment…
NTPC and ONGC establish JV for renewable energy projects
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC, and ONGC Green Energy Limited (OGL), a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), have formed a 50:50 joint venture named ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited (ONGPL). The Ministry of Power approved the formation of this joint venture, which has an authorised capital of Rs 1 million.
