Vestas wind turbine order backlog reaches 27 GW, valued at €28.1bn, in Q2 2024
Vestas reported an increase in its wind turbine order backlog, reaching 27 GW and valued at €28.1 billion by the end of Q2 2024, up from approximately 20GW and €20 billion in Q2 2023. This growth reflects strong offshore order intake in Poland and Germany, along with robust onshore orders in the USA.
The average selling price per MW rose from €1.04 million in Q2 2023 to €1.21 million in Q2 2024. Despite a 3.9% year-on-year revenue decrease to €3.29 billion in Q2 2024, Vestas expects its full-year revenue to range between €16.5 billion and €17 billion.
Order intake for offshore wind projects in Q2 2024 was 54% higher than the previous year, valued at €4.4 billion. Vestas also secured service agreements with expected future revenue of €34.9 billion. The combined value of wind turbine orders and service agreements now stands at €63 billion, an increase of €11.4 billion from last year.
Vestas has also initiated a consolidation of its technology and manufacturing divisions, expected to be completed by Q3 2024, to improve its manufacturing processes.
