UK, Polish agencies provide €249m guarantee for Turkey’s 390 MW solar project

UK Export Finance (UKEF) and Polish export credit agency KUKE have teamed up to provide a €249 million loan guarantee for Turkish renewable energy firm Kalyon Enerji. The guarantee, arranged by Standard Chartered Bank, will finance the construction of a 390 MW solar project across Turkey’s provinces of Bor-Nigde, Gaziantep, and Sanliurfa-Viransehir, set to become the country’s second-largest solar initiative.

Once completed, the solar farms will supply clean energy to over 65,000 Turkish households annually. The project is also expected to boost clean tech exports from both the UK and Poland. British company GE Vernova, through its subsidiary UK Grid Solutions Ltd, will supply and install critical equipment, supporting jobs at its Staffordshire site and in the wider UK supply chain. Polish exporters will contribute security systems and steel components.
