TotalEnergies has commenced commercial operations of its Danish Fields and Cottonwood solar farms in southeast Texas. Danish Fields, the company’s largest US solar project, has a capacity of 720 MWp and features 1.4m photovoltaic panels along with a 225 MWh battery storage system. Seventy per cent of the solar farm’s output is contracted through long-term corporate power purchase agreements (CPPAs), while the remaining capacity will decarbonize TotalEnergies’ Gulf Coast operations.
The 455 MWp Cottonwood solar farm, with 847,000 PV panels, will also feature 225 MWh of battery storage and is set to supply power to LyondellBasell and Saint-Gobain by 2025. TotalEnergies is targeting 10 GW of capacity in the US by 2025 and 25 GW by 2030.
