Three bidders qualify for Rajasthan REZ Phase IV transmission project
Three developers—Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), Sterlite Power, and Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL)—have pre-qualified to open initial price bids for a key ISTS-TBCB project for renewable energy evacuation from Rajasthan.
The project, titled “Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph-IV (Part 4: 3.5 GW): Part A,” is coordinated by REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), which expects to issue the letter of intent to the winning bidder post e-reverse auction by November 14, 2024.
With an estimated cost of Rs 58.45 billion as per the National Committee on Transmission, the project aims for commissioning within 24 months. The infrastructure development, under the special purpose vehicle “Rajasthan IV 4A Power Transmission Ltd,” will include significant installations across Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. These installations feature enhancements at the Barmer-I Pooling Station, a new 765/400 kV substation at Ghiror in Uttar Pradesh, and a 765 kV double-circuit line from Ghiror to Dausa spanning 305 kilometers.
The overall Rajasthan REZ Phase IV (3.5 GW) transmission project is split into two parts: Part A and Part B. Part B, projected to cost Rs 63.95 billion, is managed by RECPDCL under “Rajasthan IV 4B Power Transmission Ltd.” Pre-qualification for Part B bidders is expected shortly, and both components aim to be commissioned concurrently to support renewable energy evacuation from Rajasthan’s Fatehgarh and Barmer regions.
