GoI applies for loan from AIIB for Assam transmission project

The Government of India has applied for a USD 186 million loan from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for the Assam Intra-State Transmission System Enhancement Project Phase II.  The initiative aims to strengthen Assam’s electricity transmission system by constructing new transmission sub-stations, upgrading existing ones, and installing optical power ground wire (OPGW) in the state.

NTPC plans 20,000 MW transmission project in Andhra Pradesh

NTPC Green Energy Limited has announced plans for a 20,000 MW transmission project in Andhra Pradesh.  This project is intended to support NTPC Green’s forthcoming green hydrogen hub, which will be developed across 647.49 hectares at Pudimadaka.  The transmission network will connect NTPC’s proposed solar project in Anantapur to the hydrogen hub, establishing a dedicated renewable energy (RE) system to facilitate the growth of green hydrogen production.

PFCCL incorporates SPV for North-Eastern Region transmission project

PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Finance Corporation Limited, has established a special purpose vehicle (SPV) named NER Expansion Transmission Limited.  The SPV is tasked with developing the “North-Eastern Region Expansion Scheme-XXV Part-A (NERES-XXV Part-A).” The Ministry of Power has appointed PFCCL as the bid process coordinator to select a transmission service provider through a tariff-based competitive bidding process.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has acquired Bikaner A Power Transmission Ltd (BATPL) and Bikaner B Power Transmission Limited, both established to support the “Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Phase IV (Part-3: 6 GW) [Bikaner complex]” on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis.  The acquisition from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), the bid process coordinator, was completed on November 11, 2024.
