Ireland’s EirGrid awards contracts for renewables integration technologies

Ireland’s electricity grid operator, EirGrid, has awarded contracts for the deployment of synchronous condensers to support the integration of renewable energy and maintain grid stability as Ireland transitions to cleaner energy sources.  These contracts for low carbon inertia services (LCIS) will help balance the grid by providing 6,963 MVA of synchronous inertia, reactive power support, and short-circuit strength without generating active power. The contracts were awarded to Quarry Lane Stability in Sligo and Glencloosagh Energy…

ANDRITZ enhances Brazilian grid stability with synchronous condensers

International technology group ANDRITZ has signed two contracts to supply 330 MVAr synchronous condenser systems to Brazil. These installations will play a key role in stabilizing the Brazilian power grid, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring a more reliable power supply. One condenser will support transmission lines between Bahia and Minas Gerais, while the other will assist the Ceará-Crateús region. ANDRITZ’s manufacturing hub in Araraquara, São Paulo, will produce these systems. The scope of supply includes mechanical…
