SSE acquires developmental rights for 120MW BESS in Ireland’s Midlands

SSE Renewables has acquired development rights from Low Carbon’s Grid Systems Services for a 120MW/240MWh grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) project in County Offaly, Ireland.  The Thornsberry BESS project near Tullamore has received planning consent and grid connection approval, enabling 120MW import/export capacity to the national grid. SSE and FuturEnergy submit plans for Irish wind farm

SSE Renewables and FuturEnergy Ireland have submitted a planning application for the 122 MW Cummeennabuddoge wind farm to An Bord Pleanala, Ireland’s national planning authority. The project, located 5km northwest of Ballyvourney on the Cork-Kerry border, aims to power 81,900 homes annually and contribute to Ireland’s clean energy goals.
