CIL India Limited (CIL) has incorporated a new joint venture company, CIL Rajasthan Akshay Urja Limited, on June 12, 2025, to develop renewable energy projects in Rajasthan. Siemens secures DCS contract for Suratgarh TPS renovation

Siemens Limited has won a contract worth Rs 196.58 million for civil works related to the Distributed Control System (DCS) upgrade in Unit I of the Suratgarh Thermal Power Station (TPS). Rajasthan floats tender for 500 MW/1,000 MWh BESS

Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) has issued a tender to establish a 500 MW/1,000 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) with an additional greenshoe option of 500 MW/1,000 MWh. The deadline for bid submissions is December 16, 2024.  The capacity will be distributed across multiple sites, including the Giral Lignite Power Project in Barmer, the Suratgarh Thermal Power Station, and substations in Sakatputa, Kota, and Jaipur.

NLC India and RRVUNL to set up lignite-based thermal power plant in Rajasthan

NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has entered into a joint venture agreement with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) to establish a 3×125 MW lignite-based thermal power plant in Rajasthan, along with developing lignite mines to fuel the station.  The initial paid-up capital for this project is set at Rs 500,000, with NLCIL holding a 74% stake and RRVUNL holding 26%.
