GE Vernova secures contract for Queensland’s renewable energy grid upgrade

GE Vernova has won a contract from Powerlink, Queensland’s state-owned transmission utility, to supply equipment for its Capital Work program. The agreement includes the delivery of 69 Dead Tank Circuit Breakers (DTCBs), rated 245kV and above, to bolster Queensland’s renewable energy integration and enhance power infrastructure resilience. Transmission and transformation capacity additions exceed targets in FY25

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) reports that transmission and transformation capacity additions in the first seven months (April-October) of FY25 have surpassed planned targets. This marks the first instance of exceeding the target in FY25. A total of 4,337 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines were added, 10% higher than the planned 4,762 ckm.
