The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has granted initial approval to carry out an environmental impact assessment (EIA) study for the 1,000 MW Upper Bhavani Pumped Storage Hydro Power Project in Tamil Nadu. UP and MP float bids for 6,100 MW power and storage capacity

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) and M.P. Power Management Company Limited have issued bids to procure a combined 6,100 MW of power and storage capacity. UPPCL has invited bids to procure 2,000 MW of energy storage capacity from grid connected pumped hydro storage plant/s located anywhere in India. Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for 1,250 MW of energy storage capacity. The supply will come from the Panaura pumped storage project (PSP), located at Soman village in Robertsganj tehsil, Sonbhadra district.
