Delhi discoms directed to prepare for record 9,000 MW summer peak

The Delhi government has asked distribution companies (discoms) to gear up for a record peak power demand of 9,000 MW expected this summer. Discoms have been told to act on four fronts: anticipate demand, ensure readiness, secure adequate power supply, and manage faults and redundancy. To meet peak demand, power has been tied up through long-term, medium-term, and short-term purchase agreements based on projected loads.
