SSE Renewables begins construction on 320 MW BESS project in UK

SSE Renewables has commenced construction on its largest battery energy storage system (BESS) at Monk Fryston, North Yorkshire. The 320MW facility will be one of the largest in the UK, providing electricity for over half a million homes for up to two hours during periods of high demand upon completion in early 2026.
