Ministry of Coal begins scientific mining in Meghalaya
The Ministry of Coal has started scientific coal mining in Meghalaya with production commencing at two blocks: Saryngkham A in East Jaintia Hills and Pyndengshahlang in West Khasi Hills. Saryngkham A received mining permission on March 10, 2025, and production began on June 3, 2025. Pyndengshahlang was approved on May 2, 2025, with operations starting June 5, 2025.
