Centre advances long-delayed Sawalkote hydro project
The Union government has initiated steps to construct the 1,856 MW Sawalkote Hydroelectric Project on the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir, a project originally planned in the 1960s. The revival of this project follows India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty on April 22.
