BHEL-Hitachi Energy consortium wins Khavda-Nagpur HVDC project

A consortium of Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) and Hitachi Energy India has secured a contract from Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) for the Khavda-Nagpur High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission project.  The contract involves designing and constructing 800kV, 6,000 MW HVDC terminal stations at the Khavda Pooling Station-2 in Gujarat and Nagpur in Maharashtra.  Spanning 1,200 km, the system will enable bi-directional power flow and facilitate renewable energy evacuation from Gujarat’s Khavda Renewable Energy…

Power Grid acquires Khavda V-A transmission project

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) acquired “Khavda V-A Power Transmission Ltd” from REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) on November 19, 2024. This project, valued at Rs 250 billion, is the largest interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme awarded under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mechanism. Avista to acquire 10% stake in 3 GW North Plains Connector transmission project

Avista has signed a nonbinding memorandum of understanding to take a 10% ownership stake in the North Plains Connector, a 3 GW high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line by Grid United’s subsidiary.  This 420-mile line will connect the US eastern and western electric grids between Montana and North Dakota, enabling bi-directional power transport from various generation sources.
