EU set to add record 89 GW of renewables in 2025

The European Union is projected to install 89 GW of new renewable energy capacity in 2025, according to European Commission estimates reported by Reuters. This includes 70 GW of solar and 19 GW of wind power. If achieved, this would surpass 2024’s total of 78.4 GW, marking a new record in annual additions. Masdar completes €3.2bn acquisition of Terna Energy

United Arab Emirates-based clean energy company Masdar has finalized its €3.2 billion ($3.3 billion) acquisition of Greece’s Terna Energy, the largest deal on the Athens Stock Exchange.  The acquisition, announced in June 2024, involved the purchase of 70% of Terna Energy shares at €20 ($21.1) per share from GEK Terna and other shareholders.
