EGAT plans three pumped storage power plants in Thailand

PowerChina hands over 500 kV Thung Song substation to Thailand’s EGAT

Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) has officially transferred the 500 kV Thung Song substation project to Thailand’s Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) after successful site acceptance tests. Located in Nakhon Si Thammarat, southern Thailand, the project is crucial for enhancing grid transmission capacity and ensuring stable power operations in the region.  The project involved renovating and expanding an existing 230 kV air-insulated switchgear substation and constructing a new 500 kV gas-insulated switchgear substation.

B.Grimm, EGAT, PEA sign PPA to develop 323 MW of solar projects in Thailand

B.Grimm Power has signed 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) for a total of 323.3 MW across eight solar projects in Thailand. The agreements, involving B.Grimm’s subsidiaries and joint ventures, have commercial operation dates scheduled between 2026 and 2030. These projects support the company’s GreenLeap-Global and Green Strategy, aligning with Thailand’s goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2065.
