APDCL transfers land to NARL for 500 MW solar project in Assam

Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has signed a deed of agreement with NIRL Assam Renewables Limited (NARL) for the transfer of land to develop a 500 MW solar power project in Lahorijan, Assam. The agreement was signed on June 27, 2025. Under the agreement, APDCL will transfer 8,000 bighas of land to NARL, a joint venture between NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL) and APDCL. NIRL is a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Limited.

ADB sanctions $434.25 million loan for renewable energy development in Assam

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $434.25 million loan to support renewable energy initiatives and enhance energy security in Assam.  The project will establish a 500 MW grid-connected solar photovoltaic facility in the Karbi Anglong district, along with a grid-connected battery energy storage system to stabilize the grid and manage peak power demands.
