Andritz to upgrade Mozambique’s Cahora Bassa hydropower plant
Andritz will modernise Mozambique’s Cahora Bassa hydropower plant under a contract from Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB). The upgrade will increase turbine capacity to 433 MW per unit and raise total generation by over 4 per cent. The 2,075 MW plant, commissioned in 1975, supplies over half of Mozambique’s electricity and exports to neighbouring countries.
