Siemens Limited has won a contract worth Rs 196.58 million for civil works related to the Distributed Control System (DCS) upgrade in Unit I of the Suratgarh Thermal Power Station (TPS). The contract is part of the Renovation and Modernization (R&M) programme initiated by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL), which invited bids in February 2024.
The scope includes design, engineering, supply, retrofitting, erection, testing, and commissioning of the new DCS to replace the existing steam generator–turbine generator (SG-TG) control and instrumentation system. The work is expected to be completed in 210 days.
Suratgarh TPS comprises six generating units of 250 MW each, commissioned between 1998 and 2009. The plant is undergoing R&M, which also includes Real Life Assessment (RLA) of boilers in Units 1 to 5. The RLA is being executed by IRC Engineering Services India Private Limited at a cost of Rs 2.91 billion.
