Reliance to commission first solar giga-factory by FY25

Reliance Industries Ltd plans to commission its first solar giga-factory by the end of the 2024-25 fiscal year as part of its goal to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2035. The factory will begin with 20 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing and scale up in phases through 2026.

Located in Jamnagar, Gujarat, the facility will produce PV modules, cells, wafers, ingots, polysilicon, and glass at a single site. Reliance is also targeting sodium-ion cell production at the megawatt level in 2025 and a 50 MWh lithium battery cell pilot in 2026.

This initiative is part of a broader plan announced in 2021 to invest USD 10 billion in renewable energy, including setting up four giga-factories for solar, battery storage, fuel cells, and hydrogen.
