Power Grid secures project for Bhadla-III Pooling Station augmentation
Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has received the letter of intent to develop an interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme focused on augmenting the Bhadla-III Pooling Station in Rajasthan. The project, part of the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase-III Scheme, aims to support the evacuation of 20 GW of power and will be executed on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis.
The project is estimated to cost around Rs 3.69 billion, as per the National Committee on Transmission (NCT), and will be coordinated by REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL).
The project involves the augmentation of capacity at the Bhadla-III substation by adding two 500 MVA, 400/220kV interconnecting transformers (ICTs) and two 1500 MVA, 765/400kV ICTs. The entire project is expected to be completed within 18 months of the formal transfer of the special purpose vehicle (SPV) “Bhadla-III Power Transmission Ltd” to PGCIL, to commission one of the 1500 MVA ICTs by June 2025.
