PGCIL wins Barmer I Transmission in Rajasthan
Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has been declared the successful bidder for the interstate transmission system (ISTS) project under “Barmer I Transmission Ltd” through tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB). This project, known as “Transmission system for evacuation of power from Rajasthan REZ Ph-IV (Part-2: 5.5 GW),” includes the establishment of a new 765/400/220kV Barmer-I pooling substation and transmission lines, with interconnectivity to the upcoming Sirohi Pooling Station.
The project, valued at Rs 27.35 billion, will be developed on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis, with a completion target of 24 months from the transfer of the project SPV, currently owned by PFC Consulting Ltd. Competing against Adani Energy Solutions and Sterlite Power, PGCIL secured the bid and has received the letter of intent on October 9, 2024.
This marks the fifth ISTS-TBCB project PGCIL has secured, with several others in the pipeline.
