Prashant Kumar Singh appointed as new Secretary of MNRE

Prashant Kumar Singh has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), replacing IAS Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, who recently retired.  Singh, an IAS Officer of the 1993 Manipur cadre, had been serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the MNRE for the past six weeks. Before this, he was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

MNRE increases ALMM solar module capacity by 2 GW

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has increased the solar module capacity on the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) by 2,084 MW, bringing the total to 56.5 GW.  New entrants include Junna Solar System (94 MW), Sun N Sand Exim (69 MW), and Powertrac Solar Projects (47 MW). SECI debars Reliance Power and subsidiaries from tenders over fake documents
