Danish solar investment company Obton has completed the acquisition of Japanese solar developer BCPG and its extensive project portfolio for DKr2 billion ($292 million). This acquisition significantly strengthens Obton’s presence in Japan’s solar energy market, where it already operates a solar portfolio with a total capacity of 400MW, placing it among the top ten operators in the country.
BCPG is renowned for developing and operating renewable energy projects, and this strategic acquisition aligns with Obton’s ambitious plan to expand its solar energy capacity in Japan. Obton aims to reach a 1GW capacity by 2029, demonstrating its strong commitment to growth in the renewable energy sector.
In June 2024, Obton partnered with Trina Storage to deliver Elementa energy storage systems in Germany, further solidifying its position in the renewable energy sector.
