On June 16, 2025, NHPC Limited re-invited bids for setting up rooftop solar power projects in Jammu and Kashmir. The bids are being called on behalf of its subsidiary, NHPC Renewable Energy Limited (NHPC REL). Developers will be selected to install a total of 23.34 MW rooftop solar capacity on government buildings under the RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) model.
The project will be implemented through the Jammu & Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna scheme. The last date for bid submission is July 17, 2025.
The rooftop solar capacity is distributed across eight categories:
- Jammu division: 4.37 MW on Department of Home buildings, 6.42 MW on Department of Jal Shakti buildings, 1.28 MW on Department of Forest and Ecology buildings, 1.87 MW on Department of Law and Parliamentary Affairs buildings.
- Kashmir division: 6.86 MW on Department of Home buildings, 1 MW on Department of Jal Shakti buildings, 0.36 MW on Department of Forest and Ecology buildings, 1.18 MW on Department of Law and Parliamentary Affairs buildings.
Developers will sign power purchase agreements (PPAs) with JAKEDA and respective departments. Projects are expected to be commissioned within nine months from the date of signing of PPAs. NHPC REL will act as the project management consultant.
In parallel, JAKEDA has also invited bids to develop 18 mini hydro power projects (MHPs) totalling 30.05 MW across Jammu and Kashmir. These will be implemented under the independent power producer (IPP) mode as part of Phase-VII. The last date for submission is July 10, 2025.
The sites include locations such as Hajibal-1 (1.1 MW), Tumina (1.6 MW), Sawjia-I (2 MW), and Surasyar (2 MW), among others. These MHPs span Anantnag, Kupwara, Poonch, Bandipora, Baramulla, Reasi, Ganderbal, Ramban, Kishtwar, and Budgam.
Separately, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has re-invited bids for consultancy services for the 26.5 MW Middle Vaitarna Hydro-Solar Hybrid Power Project. The last date to apply is June 23, 2025.
The project includes a 20 MW hydro plant and a 6.5 MW floating solar plant, with possible extension to 80 MW. It is being developed on a build, own, and transfer basis by Vaitarna Solar-Hydro PowerGenco Private Limited, a joint venture of Shapoorji Pallonji & Company Limited (SPCL) and Mahalaxmi Konal Urja Private Limited (MKUPL).
The PPA for this project has been signed at Rs 4.75 per kWh for 25 years. The consultancy scope covers review of design, surveys, material specifications, and EPC contract compliance. Work is expected to be completed within 24 months.
