CERC issues draft amendment on Deviation Settlement Mechanism for 2024
The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has released the draft CERC (Deviation Settlement Mechanism and Related Matters) (First Amendment) Regulations, 2024. According to the draft, the charges for injecting infirm power will be zero, unless scheduled after a trial run as per the Grid Code. India has identified 133,410 MW of large hydroelectric potential and 176,280 MW of pumped-storage potential, according to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA). In the past decade, 24 hydroelectric projects, including Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) with a total capacity of 15,569 MW, have been approved. Scatec has reached financial close for its 103 MW/412 MWh Mogobe battery energy storage system (BESS) in South Africa.
