The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) issued a clarification on 6 August 2025 regarding its revised guidelines for prototype wind turbine installations. The clarification pertains to clause 1(ii)(e) of the guidelines released on 12 June 2025.
MNRE stated that the National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) may issue revised grid synchronisation recommendation letters for prototype wind turbines already recommended under earlier guidelines. However, this is allowed only if the original recommendation was issued after the IECRE Type Certification Scheme, Edition 3.0 came into effect on 25 October 2022. The clarification applies to turbines and their variants or alternative configurations under the same type.
The clarification was issued with the approval of the competent authority.
