RERC passes suo motu order for generating companies, transmission licensees, and SLDC

The Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) has issued a suo motu order in line with the RERC (Terms and Conditions for Determination of Tariff) Regulations, 2025. The order establishes the formats for generating companies, transmission licensees, and the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) to provide information required for determining the aggregate revenue requirement, tariff, multi-year tariff, and truing up petitions for the control period of 2025-26 to 2029-30.

The commission has specified detailed reporting formats covering various financial and operational aspects. These include revenue from power sales, non-tariff income, operational and maintenance expenses, lease rent, depreciation provisions, return on equity, and interest calculations on normative loans and working capital.

MERC approves AEML-D and AEML-T’s petition regarding change in consortium of lenders

The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has approved the petition filed by Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited- Distribution (AEML-D) and Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited- Transmission (AEML-T) regarding the change in the consortium of lenders for the companies. The approval pertains to the continuation of the assignment of distribution and transmission licenses to the new consortium, following the common order dated January 20, 2023.

The commission has taken on record the changes in the lenders and granted in-principle approval for the continuation of the assignment of the licenses to SBICAP Trustee Company Limited, representing the lenders. The approval is subject to several conditions, including:

  1. The assignment of licenses is allowed only for the regulatory loan amounts, as per the mid-term review orders of March 31, 2023.

  2. The funding is exclusively for the licensed transmission and distribution businesses of AEML.

  3. AEML retains operational control over the assets.

  4. Any assignment of licenses to the nominee of the security trustee requires prior approval from the commission.

  5. AEML ensures adherence to all obligations under the security trustee agreement and financing agreements.

Additionally, AEML’s claim that the new working capital loan facility will not burden consumers will be reviewed by the commission during the ongoing multi-year tariff proceedings.
