L&T wins new mandates in digital energy solutions space

Larsen & Toubro’s Digital Energy Solutions (DES) business, part of its Power Transmission & Distribution arm, has received a mandate to implement Energy Management Systems (EMS) in regional and state load dispatch centres across South India. This project will upgrade control rooms for the Southern Regional Load Dispatch Centre (SRLDC) and the State Load Dispatch Centers (SLDC) of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. L&T DES will ensure the system integration without any downtime, using its L&T-Spark-CRIM™ platform to monitor and control energy flows in real time.

In addition to its South India mandate, L&T DES has expanded its operations in the United States, winning complex projects such as upgrading power and transmission control rooms in the western US and implementing advanced grid modernization solutions. L&T DES is also set to provide turnkey solutions for 300 MW solar “Balancing Authority” services in California, facilitating optimal energy transactions while ensuring grid reliability.

L&T is also engaged in advanced projects in India, such as modernizing the National and Regional Transmission Asset Management Centers, which oversee 270 EHV transmission substations. Furthermore, L&T DES is developing advanced distribution management systems in cities like Mumbai and Vadodara.

In the US, L&T DES has been involved in designing and implementing hybrid energy solutions, combining solar, energy storage, and substation control for renewable energy projects in Puerto Rico.
