Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for erection works at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant Units 5 and 6. L&T quoted Rs 13.14 billion for the contract invited by Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) in April 2024.

The scope includes erection of nuclear reactor systems and turbine systems. It covers equipment such as generators, condensers, sea water systems, cranes, and other associated systems. The work also involves installation of piping, supports, metal structures, painting, anti-corrosive coating, insulation, and testing across multiple buildings and structures.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) was the second-lowest (L2) bidder, quoting Rs 14.85 billion.

NPCIL is developing the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tirunelveli district, Tamil Nadu. The site has a planned capacity of 6,000 MW, consisting of six units of 1,000 MW each. Units 1 and 2 are operational, while Units 3 to 6 are under construction.
