Kerala to get its first group captive solar project

INKEL Limited plans to develop renewable energy (RE) projects worth Rs 2 billion in Malappuram, Kerala. The initiative is part of a broader Rs 11.35 billion investment commitment aimed at accelerating infrastructure and clean energy growth in the state.

Under Phase-I, INKEL will set up a 23.3 MW group captive solar project across 75 acres at the INKEL Greens Educity & Industrial Park in Malappuram district. This marks Kerala’s first group captive solar project, and is intended to supply power to institutional and industrial consumers under a shared ownership model.

In addition, the company is developing an 18 MW solar project at Ozhalapathy and an 18 MW wind power project at Vadakarapathy.

The project is being developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with INKEL Ltd promoted by the Government of Kerala. According to the company, a formal agreement has been signed to ensure Rs 2 billion investment under the group captive model.

INKEL Ltd provides end-to-end infrastructure services, including project management consultancy (PMC), engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) delivery, and specialised design support for buildings, medical infrastructure, and renewable energy installations.
