JSW wins 1,500 MW pumped hydro storage contract from MSEDCL

JSW Neo Energy, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, has received a letter of intent (LoI) from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution (MSEDCL) to provide 1,500 MW/12,000 MWh of pumped hydro energy storage. The Bhavali pumped hydro project, located across Nashik and Thane districts, will feature an eight-hour discharge capacity with a maximum of five continuous hours of discharge. The energy storage capacity will be provided for 40 years.

With this order, JSW Neo Energy’s total locked-in energy storage capacity reaches 16.2 GWh, including 14.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage and 1.8 GWh of battery energy storage.
